Heavy Lifting
GANTRY
JACK & SLIDE

TCR has a variety of equipment available for all your heavy lifting needs. Our staff is trained in forklifts, gantries, and advanced jack and slide techniques.

Jack
ENGINE BLOCK

Kansas

In order for our client to remove the crankshaft of this large stationary natural gas compressor engine, TCR utilized its gantry system to jack the top power cylinder engine block (approximately 130,000 lbs).

“The engine has 4 large compressor cylinders on each side that are driven by the engine.  Located at a gas compressor station in Kansas, this engine is used to move natural gas up a pipeline to the northeastern part of our country. Using Taylor crane to pick up the top frame off engines saves our customers time and money. The other option is to remove the roof from the building and have a large crane come in and pick up the engine frame.”

Turbine Generator
MOVE & INSTALLATION

Awarded SC&RA Rigging Job of the Year 2005

Fairbanks Morse Engine Co. – Manhattan, KS Railhead to Clay Center, KS Power Plant

Provided complete rigging and transport services to move and install (1) 32/40 generator set. The V-18 power generator weighed 334,000 lbs and made its way from Germany to the Houston Port by ship, and then by rail to Manhattan, KS.

Taylor utilized its 600-ton jacking system to lift and transfer the generator from rail car to a dual lane transport dolly system, for the 40 mile haul from Manhattan to Clay Center, which required DOT approval and movement over long span bridges.

The challenging installation required movement of the generator through a door over a suspended floor and then lowering approx. 8 ft. to its foundation.  Taylor custom designed, engineered, and fabricated (2) 8” transfer beams and additional rigging gear to accomplish the tight movement through the door and to the foundation.
The entire job was performed without incident and to the satisfaction of our client (Fairbanks), the owner (Clay Center Public Utilities Commission) and the Kansas DOT.

Train
MOVE

Bartlesville, OK

The No. 940
locomotive is the sole survivor of 342 similar steam engines built for the Santa Fe. It was retired in 1954 and was moved to Bartlesville for display. On December 9th, 2009, this 100+ year old locomotive was rescued from further deterioration due to the
Caney River flooding at her then current location. It was placed in its new home at the Bartlesville Depot in honor of the depot’s 100th birthday.

This unusual move was coordinated by SMC of Bartlesville and Taylor Crane & Rigging who provided a small army of men and an array of massive equipment to handle the move. Steam locomotive moves such as this occur only a few times each decade in the United States.

Practice Lift
The No. 940 locomotive was rigged with a 265 ton and 120 ton crane. TCR performed the test lift in order to assure everything was in place and to get the weight of the locomotive, which determined to be 275,000 lbs.

Move of Locomotive
TCR lifted and loaded the locomotive onto a 8 axel, 64 tire scheuerle trailer and pushed tender to cranes and rigged and loaded tender (110,000 lbs) on to a 4 axel lowboy. TCR then moved the locomotive 4 blocks from Johnstone Park to the Bartlesville Depot. The locomotive was set into position over tracks and cranes offloaded it. TCR then backed tender in over tracks and offloaded the No. 940.
